Yale New Haven Health System posted a $121.31 million operating loss through the fiscal year 2023 first half ended March 31, compared with a $114.22 million loss from operations through the same six-month period a year earlier, according to unaudited financial statements posted to EMMA.

A non-operating gain of $259.36 million, mostly tied to income from investments and donations, drove a $131.78 million excess in revenue over expenses for the six-month period ended March 31.

Cash rose to $427.09 million from $223.32 million over the six-month period. The system reported total net assets of nearly $4.2 billion as of March 31 versus $4 billion in total liabilities.

YNHHS reported total operating revenue of $3.22 billion through March 31, up from $3.08 billion during the six-month period a year earlier. Operating expenses totaled $3.35 billion through March 31, compared with nearly $3.2 billion during the first six months a year earlier.

The YNHHS obligated group reported $1.611 billion in master trust indenture debt outstanding as of March 31, with the long-term portion, net of current portion and deferred financing costs, accounting for $1.408 billion.
